India’s transition to a knowledge-based economy requires a new generation of educated and skilled people. Its competitive edge will be determined by its people’s ability to create, share, and use knowledge effectively. A knowledge economy requires India to develop SKILLED TECHNICIAN who are flexible and analytical, and who can be the driving force for innovation and growth. To achieve this India needs a flexible education system: basic education to provide the foundation for learning; secondary and tertiary education to develop core capabilities and core technical skills; and further means of achieving lifelong learning. The education system must be attuned to the new global environment by promoting creativity and improving the quality of education and training at all levels. In a globalised economy, a large pool of skilled workers is indispensable for attracting industrial investment including foreign direct investment.

Government ITI Boudh was 20th Government ITI of the state opened in the year 1994 under World Bank assisted project as a ITI for women for Skill Training and Empowerment of Women. It is a coincidence that the district is also formed in the year 1994 after separation from Phulbani district. It is centrally located in Odisha in the district head quarter of Boudh.

Government ITI Boudh is a located adjoining to NH 224 in the heart of the Boudh town. This ITI was incepted during 1994-95 with 1 no of trade of Electronics Mechanics having 19 no’s of girls trainee. The foundation stone of existing campus was laid on 07th August 1994 and campus was inaugurated on 25th October 1997. The institute is converted into Co education institute with reservation in admission in the year 2004. The nomenclature of ITI for Women is changed to Government ITI in the year 2009. Subsequently it was expanded and at present there are 07 trades with 21 units under Craftsman training scheme having student strength of 355 in 2018-19.During 2009 this Institute was upgraded to PPP mode ITI by Govt. of India(Under the scheme “ upgradation of 1396 Government ITIs under Public Private Partnership”) with a new vision to provide multi skill work force under mentorship of an Industry partner to match the skill need, opening of demand driven trades and upgradation and capacity expansion of existing trades to provide a dignified livelihood and to cater future man power around the country with global prospective.
